How we operate

How are we funded?

Catalyst is grant funded by a collective of major funders: City Bridge Trust, Comic Relief, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, the National Lottery Community Fund, and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.

Our latest tranche of funding is allowing us to deliver the £4.95m Catalyst and The National Lottery Community Fund COVID-19 Digital Response funding initiative: a partnership between The National Lottery Community Fund and CAST, supported by the Catalyst network. This fund is open to charities and other civil society organisations whose operations have been affected by COVID-19 and who need emergency funding to deliver essential digital services.

How are decisions made?

Based on current funding into Catalyst, decisions regarding Catalyst and how it functions will be made by CAST with strategic guidance coming from a forum of Catalyst advisors.

CAST’s governing documents [registered charity number 1161998 and company number 09544506] ensure that we act in the public interest. As part of Charity Commission rules, all of the spend will be documented in charity accounts and available for public view, and all grants will be published to 360Giving.
